Yeah I can think of an AWESOME way to welcome the new guys! First, word gets around about how good a certain band is or what type or what songs they play. us band student's know EVERYTHING whether it's a rumor or 100% true. so lets not put a rumor out there but let's put some truth into everyone's heads! for FBA this year we can play a few songs that are popular to the judges but i also think we should play something that is popular among people our age! my recommendation for symphonic band is the Theme From Rocky. not only is Rocky an awesome movie but it also has the greatest theme song in movie history. . .that is besides the disney movie "Holes". but that's besides the point! i think that if we play the "Theme From Rocky" aaaaand we make a superior everyone would want to be in our band! now if we're taking the Jazz Band i think we should play an awesome song by Chicago called '25 or 6 to 4' because it is a great jazz piece and some people actually know the song. ooh and we should play the WORLD FAMOUS sing, sing, sing! if you're reading this and you support me. . .please repost a positive comment or do 1 better and request it to mr. young because i'm sure if enough of us request he'll fulfill!

Interesting thoughts.   You present some very good ideas.  I would not want to change the type of band the Wildcats are just get a superior rating.  Some judges are probably not used to the type of music the Wildcats play.  Many of the judges have not seen the Wildcats marching style.

When watching the other bands at the FBA, they all have similar styles.   The BTWHS Wildcats is the only band that has a different style.  If we start playing and performing just for the judges those in attendance are the ones who lose out.   Hopefully in the future the judges can appreciate the different style of the Marching Wildcats and reward the band for their hard work.   I rather the band keep their current style and never receive a superior rather than changing styles and music just to please the judges.

Playing popular music is always a popular thing.   The theme behind "Drumline" was to blend the old music with the new music.   Perhaps the Theme from Rocky can be incorporated with some James Brown, in honor of James Brown

I wasn't saying we should change our marching style or our playing style, and i didn't mean we should strictly play music the judges like, and i wasn't talking about the marching competition.

i was actually talk ing about our symphonic competition. . . you know the FBA type thing where we sit and play.

What i considered music the judges may like were things like : concord, ye banks and braes . . ., and the other song we played.

Now what i consider popular to the people are things like the Theme from Rocky and Sing, Sing , Sing! and those are actually really nice performance songs.

So maybe this clears things up. I wasn't talking about marching season or changing the band at all!
